The Cause of All Suffering is Lack

It is vital, now more than ever, to remember your practices.

What are you doing to tap into daily self care?

Many of us are in the sympathetic nervous system response (fight or flight) because of all of the stimulation around us and super charged energy.

It seems like we are waiting and anticipating for something to happen and everything is dependent on the external… something outside of ourselves.

From the perspective of yoga, Patanjali says the cause of all suffering is the feeling of lacking.

When we feel that we lack something, we begin to suffer. We attach a story to it and that story becomes bigger and bigger and it starts to hurt us… it colours the lens through which we perceive the world, ourselves and the world around us. This manifests through our relationships, through our work, through our attitude, through our capacity to pursue our dreams and our purpose (dharma).

The antidote to that feeling of lack is turning INWARD. I know this isn’t the answer we often want to hear, especially when we are so focused externally.

HOWEVER, yoga suggests that the whole universe resides within us – EVERYTHING that is outside of us is within us.

It is useful to find the source of that suffering, that initial thought or initial emotion that caused that story.. that feeling of lacking, and learn to address it with your own energy (Shakti) and guidance of your higher intelligence (Buddhi).

For that, we need to take a step back and first allow ourselves to experience a little bit of friction or that sticky feeling within us that none of us really want to dive into.

When we see it and shine a light on it…. it no longer controls us from the shadows.

We must address those painful aspects of our being. Sometimes we lack recognition, support or approval from somebody in our life or perhaps we want to feel beautiful. How often do we reach out for someone else’s encouragement and don’t actually give ourselves that sense of approval or satisfaction?

We live in a world/society that constantly promotes lack through marketing and the different industries that bombard us… banking on us feeling less than – always reaching for more, not pretty enough, not fit enough, searching for the perfect lover, looking for approval, no pain no gain, crushing goals – all telling us we are lacking something.

When there is lack, we tend to focus outward, we reach outside of ourselves. This causes the mind to spin, causes limiting beliefs and habits that are not of service to us… eventually causing a new pathway in our being, a deeper groove (samskara).

Let’s learn to bring our energy back to US, especially when we are triggered. Being triggered isn’t a bad thing, it is a part of life. We must learn to navigate these triggers in a more optimal way so it doesn’t take over us… so it doesn’t own us. We are supposed to experience the scope of our emotions – but don’t let it own you!

Our bodies are a vessel of energy. Energy is everywhere. We are constantly shifting, moving, changing – we are all participants in this dynamic.

Did you know that energy leaks!?

One of the ways energy leaks is through the 5 senses (smell, taste, touch, seeing, hearing). Anything that stimulates the mind causes energy to leak, therefore, we must control the stimulation of the mind.

Look at energy as currency. We gotta know what we’re investing in! Where are you choosing to invest your energy?

Look around, give it some thought. You wouldn’t just go to a restaurant that serves rotten food.

Choose wisely what you give your energy to… what thoughts, stories, paradigms, beliefs are you choosing to subscribe to?

Turn INWARD – learn to work with your own incredible source of energy so you can show up and meet the world from a place of wholeness.

Tap into the inner resources that are already within you.

Be still.

Meditate.

Turn your phone/news off.

Be in Nature.

Listen inward.

Have compassion for self and others.

Forgive.

GO in and in… until you remember the Truth of who you are.

I am honoured to walk this path with you.

I see you. I love you. I love me.

Go In And In. Be The Space Between Two Cells, The Vast, Resounding Silence In Which Spirit Dwells.

Be Sugar Dissolving On The Tongue Of Life. Dive In And In, As Deep As You Can Dive.

Be Infinite, Ecstatic Truth. Be Love Conceived And Born In Union. Be Exactly What You Seek,

The Beloved, Singing Yes, Tasting Yes, Embracing Yes, Until There Is Only Essence;

The All Of Everything Expressing Through You As You.

Go In And In And Turn Away From Nothing That You Find.
